Federal Galley will open in a standalone building at Nova Place on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

The restaurant hall is run by Galley Group partners Ben Mantica and Tyler Benson, who look to pick up on the energy created by their successful Strip District restaurant incubator, Smallman Galley. As Pittsburgh Magazine learned when we first announced the Federal Galley chefs in September, Smallman alumni Stephen K. Eldridge and Susan Cope will bring their popular restaurant, Provision, to the new location, as well as open a second concept, El Lugar.  Kristin Calverley and Nate Peck, with Detroit-style pizza Michigan & Trumbull and Vincent Perri, with vegetable-forward Supper, round out the group of Federal Galley chefs. Cat Cannon, one of Pittsburgh’s best bartenders, is Federal Galley’s bar manager.

Federal Galley, with seating for 190 inside and an additional 100 outside, might not open until Tuesday … but we took a sneak peek anyway.
