Digital Marketing & Events Coordinator

About the Role

Pittsburgh Magazine is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Digital Marketing & Events Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for someone eager to gain hands-on experience across digital marketing, live events, and multimedia.

In this role, you’ll support the planning and execution of high-profile events while also contributing to digital marketing initiatives that grow our audience and engage our community. You’ll work closely with editorial, sales, and marketing teams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Events Coordination

  • Assist in planning and executing 20+ annual events, from concept to post-event follow-up
  • Coordinate event logistics including vendors, venues, timelines, and materials
  • Manage guest lists, registrations, and event communications
  • Support on-site event execution including setup, registration, and breakdown
  • Help create event materials such as signage, presentations, and promotional items
  • Communicate with sponsors, partners, and vendors to ensure seamless execution
  • Track event budgets and assist with post-event reporting

Digital Marketing

  • Support email marketing efforts including newsletters, promotional campaigns, and audience growth
  • Assist with website updates, event pages, and digital content publishing
  • Collaborate on social media and digital campaigns to promote events and brand initiatives
  • Help export performance metrics (email, web, social) to inform future strategies
  • Assist with SEO and content optimization efforts
  • Work with internal teams to support digital advertising and sponsored content initiatives

Sales Support

  • Update and maintain sales materials, including media kits, sales sheets, and sponsor decks
  • Assist with prospecting efforts, including research and list building for potential clients
  • Help to monitor sales tracking sheets to ensure all client ad buys and deliverables are fulfilled
  • Place digital ads and coordinate campaign execution
  • Coordinate and track event deliverables, ensuring all sponsorship elements are executed accurately and on time

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
  • A quick learner with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Flexible and willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Skills

  • Internship or hands-on experience in marketing, events, media, or communications
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g., Loomly)
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact)
  • Basic knowledge of website content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking, reporting, and organization
  • Experience using Canva or similar tools to create marketing, sales and event materials
  • Exposure to analytics tools such as Google Analytics or social media insights
  • Understanding of SEO and digital marketing best practices

Account Executive

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated person with vision and interest in the media world. The right person will contribute to Pittsburgh Magazine’s growing digital advertising business and will benefit from our standing as one of the most trusted media companies in Pittsburgh that was founded in 1969.

S/he will be able to demonstrate a pattern of success in building revenue and establishing relationships. The ideal candidate will have experience in media sales, including a basic understanding of digital, print and event sponsorship and advertising. This position will oversee an established territory as well as develop new business. Pittsburgh Magazine offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.

The account executive will:

  • Retain current advertisers through exceptional customer service and in-person meetings
  • Actively seek new business through competitive research, online research, and networking
  • Incorporate multimedia products and services where appropriate
  • Maintain high levels of networking, appointments and prospecting activity
  • Meet monthly sales goals
  • All client communication must be documented daily in CRM
  • Book all ads, manage revenue, and ad production in CRM
  • Provide timely and accurate forecasting to Advertising Director on a weekly basis
    Close all business by appropriate deadlines
  • Submit advertiser materials by ad material deadlines
  • Attend weekly sales meetings, sales training meetings, magazine events and weekly 1-1’s
  • Proficient computer skills: Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Video Conferencing
