Pittsburgher of the Year Celebration

On Monday, January 30, Pittsburgh Magazine hosted its annual Pittsburgher of the Year celebration in the Rivers Casino Ballroom. The event honored Rich Fitzgerald, a quintessential Pittsburgher, heading into his 12th and final year as Allegheny County Executive, where he has been working to reshape the region for the next generation. This home-grown father of eight has drawn praise for his role in attracting robotics, advanced manufacturing and other jobs to the area, reviving and diversifying the economy and stemming population loss. He also hasn’t raised taxes or instituted budgetary layoffs, all while improving the county’s credit rating. And for the last three years, he has been dealing with unprecedented public health problems and business closures during the coronavirus pandemic. For championing everything about Allegheny County, Rich Fitzgerald is our 2022 Pittsburgher of the Year.
