In The Mood for Monster Murals? Here’s Where to Find Them
Artist Jeremy Raymer has spray-painted created creepy scenes throughout the city.
If typical Halloween decorations aren’t putting you in a spooky mood, try one of Jeremy Raymer’s murals as a selfie backdrop.
The artist has spray-painted dozens of scenes throughout the city, including numerous monster-themed walls in Lawrenceville, Bloomfield and the Strip District.
Mulberry Way in Lawrenceville is like Raymer’s outdoor art gallery. The alley is home to two jack-o’-lanterns, Slimer from “Ghostbusters,” a pastel skeleton, Skeletor, Pittsburgh-born “Poltergeist” star Zelda Rubinstein and Kyra Schon, the young ghoul in “Night of the Living Dead.”
Just around the corner, on Charlotte Street, there’s a Great White Shark and a skin-and-bones Bart Simpson.
Head North on Butler Street to see the Tom Savini mural on Almond Way in Centeral Lawrenceville. The special effects legend worked on the original “Friday the 13th” in 1980 and “Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter” in 1984.
Savini’s creation from the 1982 flick “Creepshow” is represented on Taylor Street in his hometown of Bloomfield. While you’re in Little Italy, stop by Creative Chem Co. to see Raymer’s mural of another Pittsburgh native, Jeff Goldblum.
Frankenstein’s monster is on 33rd St. and Penn Ave. at the edge of the Strip District.
Want to start the holiday season early, ya filthy animal? Go back to Butler Street in Lawrenceville to see Raymer’s tribute to “Home Alone.”
