e2 in Highland Park is closing. The restaurant will have its final regular menu service on Oct. 9 and will continue reservations-only “Big Table” bookings through Oct. 28.
“It’s time for us to move on. We were having some location problems, and it became clear they weren’t going to be resolved,” says e2 executive chef/owner Kate Romane.
The restaurant has been a fixture in Pittsburgh’s dining scene since Romane opened the space in 2010, celebrated for both its wildly popular Sunday brunches and Romane’s Italian-focused dinner menu.
Romane will move her operations to Black Radish Kitchen in Point Breeze. “I was looking at spaces and haven’t found one that would translate to [a new iteration of] e2. But I found this great catering kitchen, so we’re doing that for now,” she says.
Romane plans on a series of collaborative popup dinners and hopes to relaunch her celebrated “Sunday Sauce” dinner series in November. She also will use the space in Point Breeze for her catering business and for private events.
And, she says, “We’re still going to look for a new space for e2.”
