Bread and Salt Bakery is Closed
The Bloomfield bakery ends its short run.
Bread and Salt Bakery in Bloomfield is closed. Owner/baker Rick Easton posted this announcement on Facebook today:
"We want to thank everyone for their support over the past year. We have made the rather difficult decision to not reopen the bakery. We are saddened to no longer provide bread for our community. I am moving to New York and excited for what possibilities the future can bring."
The bakery opened a little over a year ago. It was best known for pizza — food writer Mark Bittman proclaimed is the best in the United States — and naturally-leavened breads made from locally-sourced grains. Easton also recently was named as a 2016 James Beard awards semifinalist for Outstanding Baker.
