Pet of the Month: Naan
After stealing hearts at the 2026 NFL Draft, this lovable rescue dog is ready to find the forever family she's been waiting for.
When Pittsburgh hosted the 2026 NFL Draft, thousands of fans gathered to celebrate football’s future stars. Among the crowd favorites was a brindle-coated contender named Naan, one of just 10 adoptable dogs selected to take the stage and represent Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh during the festivities.
While she may not have heard her name called by the NFL commissioner, Naan is still waiting for the most important selection of all: a family to call her own.
This 5-year-old mixed-breed dog has been in HARP’s care since February and is currently thriving in a foster home, where her affectionate personality and gentle nature have made her an easy favorite. Sweet, social, and eager to please, Naan is the kind of companion who quickly wins over everyone she meets.
Her foster family has discovered that she’s not only loving but also impressively well-mannered. Naan already knows several commands, including sit and shake, makes wonderful eye contact, and can even catch treats mid-air. Despite her enthusiasm for snacks, she always takes them gently and politely. She has also proven herself to be both house-trained and crate-trained, making the transition into a forever home even easier.
Naan’s journey hasn’t always been easy. When she arrived at HARP, she needed some extra care and attention to help her feel her best again. Thanks to the dedication of HARP’s staff, volunteers, and foster caregivers, she has blossomed into a healthy, happy dog who is ready for her next chapter.
What truly sets Naan apart, however, is her ability to make people feel loved. Whether she’s leaning in for pets, curling up beside her favorite person, or simply soaking up attention, she approaches life with a warmth and sincerity that’s impossible to ignore.
While Naan can be selective about her canine companions, a meet-and-greet can help determine whether she’d be a good match for another dog already in the home.
For a dog who has already experienced the excitement of the NFL Draft stage, Naan remains remarkably humble. She’s not looking for fame or accolades, just a family willing to give her the love and stability she deserves.
If you’re searching for a loyal companion with a heart full of love, there truly is Naan better. Learn more about Naan and other adoptable pets through Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh today.
