Heinz History Center Makes History — Again
The Strip District facility topped a national Best Of list.
Pittsburgh is always making history — and Top 10 lists.
For the third year in a row, USA Today named the Heinz History Center in the Strip District the Best History Museum in the country.
According to the publication:
“The Heinz History Center preserves the history of Western Pennsylvanians and helps educate visitors with six floors of interactive exhibits. A highlight is the “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” exhibit — the show was filmed in Pittsburgh — which displays the welcoming living room set, the Great Oak Tree, and King Friday XIII’s Castle.”
The Smallman Street facility interprets the history of Western Pennsylvanians through six floors of interactive exhibitions, including Pittsburgh’s Hidden History, which features hundreds of never-before-seen yinzer relics. They’re on display through April 4.
Through support from the Kamin “Free for Kids” Initiative, admission is free for children ages 17 and under to the Heinz History Center, Franco Harris Sports Museum and Fort Pitt Museum every day, all year long.
USA Today also recognized Pittsburgh’s beer scene and the annual Barrel & Flow Fest. Raise a pint to the future and the past.
