Celebrate the Steelers Home Opener, Pittsburgh Style

If there are two things Pittsburghers love, it’s football and a party.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are embracing both with Steelers Kickoff Week, a series of activities and fan activations leading up to the team’s regular season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 13.

At the center of the weeklong festivities will be the giant Super Bowl rings from the 2026 NFL Draft Steelers Country activation, which will travel to six local neighborhoods from Sept. 7 through Sept. 12.

At each location, fans will be invited to help paint a piece of a larger canvas in a “paint by numbers” style. Each piece will represent a stop along the journey; once completed, all six will form a 24-foot mural that will be unveiled to fans at Acrisure Stadium at the home opener.

“What drives the Steelers is our fans,” says Dan Rooney, Steelers vice president of strategy.  “That’s why we’re bringing kickoff week excitement directly to them. After welcoming the football world to Pittsburgh for the 2026 NFL Draft, we’re taking a piece of that experience into neighborhoods across the city — giving fans a chance to relive the historic event, connect with our team’s legacy and build excitement for the season ahead.”

The festivities begin on Sept. 7; the Super Bowl IX ring will be at the Patricia Rooney Memorial Fountain in Allegheny Commons Park on the North Side. This location will also kick off a week-long matching campaign benefitting the Salvation Army in honor of the 20th anniversary of Project Bundle-Up, which Patricia Rooner helped to pioneer.

On Sept. 8, the Super Bowl X ring will be in the U.S. Steel Community Field at Hazelwood Green. There will also be a free Steelers Youth Football Mini Camp for children ages 6-14 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The Super Bowl XIII ring will come to Oakland’s Schenley Plaza on Sept. 9. This top brings Kickoff Week to the city’s college community, just blocks from the former site of Forbes Field, where the Steelers played their first-ever home game in 1933.

The lawn at Point State Park will host the Super Bowl XIV ring on Sept. 10. This is a homecoming for the ring, as it marks the spot they were first displayed as part of Steelers Country during the 2026 NFL Draft.

On Sept. 11, the Super Bowl XL ring will come to Acrisure Stadium on the North Shore. To mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11, volunteers will join a nationwide movement to “honor through action,” officials say. As part of the largest annual day of service in U.S. history, volunteers will pack more than 248,500 healthy, non-perishable meals for local families at risk of hunger. All meals will be donated to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank for distribution to local individuals and families in need.

Visit the Duquesne Incline Overlook in Mt. Washington on Sept. 12 to see the Super Bowl XLIII ring. While you’re there, take advantage of the city’s iconic funicular railway; the Steelers will cover all Duquesne Incline fare from 12 to 2 p.m.

Finally, all six rings will be displayed together at Acrisure Stadium on Sept. 13, along with the fan-painted mural, marking the end of a weeklong journey that culminates with the Steelers home opener.

Specific times when fans can see the rings and participate in the mural painting will be announced on Steelers Nation Unite Instagram, Facebook and X social channels the morning of each activation.

The 2026 Acrisure Stadium Kickoff and Rib Festival, Sept. 3-7 (Labor Day Weekend): Located around Acrisure Stadium, the midway of the festival along Art Rooney Avenue will feature rib vendors, festival food and beverages, games, musical performances and more. The FedEx Great Hall will be open for fans to view the team’s Super Bowl trophies, Steelers memorabilia and the Terrible Towel Wall. 

Steelers Run Walk on Sept. 7: The 38th annual race is the major fundraiser for the Art Rooney Scholarship Fund and features a 3.1-mile course on the North Shore highlighted by a finish on the Acrisure Stadium warning track. Immaculate Prediction $100K Season Challenge: The newly updated Immaculate Prediction game, available exclusively in the Steelers Mobile App, will feature a special season-long prediction challenge for 2026. During the week leading up to the season opener, fans can lock in their predictions for the entire season for a chance to win $100,000.
