Start the year off right by taking care of your health.

AHN Cancer Institute once again has scheduled a year’s worth of screenings throughout its system. The advantage about this program is that patients can get the choice of seven different types of cancer screenings at one place and at one time, rather than having to deal with the inconvenience of scheduling each one separately.

“Early detection is critical in improving cancer outcomes,” James Betler, an osteopath and director of the AHN Cancer Institute Growth and Outreach, said in a statement. “We know that getting multiple screenings at multiple appointments can be cumbersome, which is why the AHN Cancer Institute is committed to providing convenient and accessible cancer screening services to the community.”

The tests screen for these cancers:

1. Breast cancer: Mammogram
2. Cervical cancer: Pap smear
3. Colorectal cancer: Noninvasive fecal immunochemical test
4. Head and neck cancer: Physical exam of head and neck to check for lumps
5. Lung cancer: Low dose computed tomography (CT scan)
6. Prostate cancer: Prostate-specific antigen or PSA blood test
7. Skin cancer: Physical exam for signs of skin cancer

Weekly cancer screening clinics will be held at AHN Cancer Institute Jefferson on Tuesdays (575 Coal Valley Road Jefferson Hills, PA 15025) and AHN Cancer Institute Forbes on Wednesdays (2626 Haymaker Road, Monroeville, PA 15146).

If you’re not available on a weekday, there are monthly screenings on Saturday at the following dates and locations. Appointments will open a month before the date.

Schedule sessions by calling 412-359-6665 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or leave a message after hours. Depending upon what insurance you have, there may be a co-pay. Have your insurance information with you when you make the appointment.
