Pittsburgh Business Leader, Gilbane Building Company

James Dudt is a state-licensed professional engineer, a LEED Accredited Professional, and recently served two terms as the Pittsburgh president of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers.

He’s also a township supervisor in his home of North Bethlehem Township, Washington County, the president of the alumni association at Grove City College, a teaching consultant at the School of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University, and, in his spare time, a Troopmaster for TrailLife, which his four sons are involved with.

At Gilbane Building Company, he’s managed more than $670 million worth of projects, including Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotic Innovation Center, CMU’s Hazelwood Green Infrastructure, the Cleveland Museum of Art Campus Expansion and Renovation, and Allegheny Health Network’s new Wexford hospital and parking garage.

He says he loves being on location at the construction sites but also helping clients on the business end of the process. “I love being a business leader because you get to touch so many different aspects of construction but also the people, leadership side.”
