Caliente Pizza & Drafthouse Offers Ghoulish To-Go Containers For The Halloween Season
Flip the lid and become a slice-hungry zombie.
They keep coming back in a bloodthirsty lust for … pizza?
Caliente Pizza & Drafthouse is getting its ghoul on this Halloween season by offering zombified pizza boxes illustrated by artist Morgan Christman. This not-so-subtle nod to director George Romero’s “Living Dead” trilogy — iconic horror films shot in and around Pittsburgh — gives new meaning to “dinner and a movie.”
When you open the cardboard container to grab a slice, you’re greeted by the cartoonish image of a dearly departed and inexplicably reanimated yinzer. Line up the top half of your face with the zombie’s slack jaw and you’ve got one spooky, selfie-worthy meal.
The boxes are available at all seven of Caliente’s main locations through the end of October. While you’re there, check out the chalkboard draft lists; Christman’s been drawing these beer menu masterpieces for Caliente since 2012.
If you prefer sports over walking stiffs, Caliente also has a hockey-themed design available at its sites throughout PPG Paints Arena. Flip the lid and pose as a Pittsburgh Penguin before devouring your pie. It is National Pizza Month after all.
All of this makes me want to chow down while watching Zombies On Ice. Why isn’t apocalyptic figure skating a thing in Pittsburgh? It’s something to chew on.
