CRESTED DUCK: NOW AVAILABLE ACROSS THE COUNTRY
Home-delivery food service has really taken off. Blue Apron, Hello Fresh and Graze can drop a box of already-measured ingredients or snacks at your doorstep. Carnivore Club operates the same way — its focus is on meat, though. Through Sept. 21, Kevin Costa, executive chef of Crested Duck, will be sharing his charcuterie with the nation. Among the cured meats available in the Crested Duck box is duck prosciutto, sure to pair well with crusty bread and top-level cheese.
(Crested Duck is sold through Sept. 21; one-month subscription: $55, recurring: $50 per; carnivoreclub.co)

SOUTHSIDE WORKS WILL HOST FOOD-TRUCK FEST
Acknowledging the growth in the local mobile food scene, the organizers of South Side's chili festival took a different route this year. The inaugural Fall Food Festival is set for tomorrow in SouthSide Works. Fill up on pierogies, crepes, hot dogs and more and cast your vote in categories including Best Dish and Best Truck. Based on the food and music lineups alone, we're betting this fest may one day be as popular as the neighborhood's other signature event, the annual soup competition.
(27th Street, SouthSide Works; Sat, 12-8 p.m.; free to attend; southsideworks.com)

GET A PRIMER ON FOOD PRESERVATION AT THE HISTORY CENTER
Now's the time to pick and preserve your last summer crops. Allow chef Trevett Hooper of Legume and Butterjoint to show you how it's done tomorrow at the Sen. John Heinz History Center. Taste some of Hooper's pickled delicacies and take notes on how you can replicate his style in your own kitchen. There's a tie-in here: Following the 11 a.m. session, visitors can check out 160-year-old pickles displayed in the "Pittsburgh's Lost Steamboat: Treasures of the Arabia" show.
(1212 Smallman St., Strip District; Sat, 11 a.m. cooking demo, free with admission; registration required; heinzhistorycenter.org)
