These Dogs of Honor Stole the Show at Three Pittsburgh Weddings
These celebrations wouldn't have been complete without these important four-legged family members.
Sarah Fiedler and Brett Huston knew from the moment they got engaged that they wanted to include their beloved French Bulldogs, Andre and Moo, in their Sept. 25, 2021 ceremony at Woodhaven Bed and Breakfast in Schellsburg.
“Our dogs are such a big part of our lives, so we always planned to have them be a part of our special day,” says Sarah.
When their wedding date arrived, the couple made sure their dogs made a stylish entrance in matching tuxedos. However, it took Sarah quite some time to find the outfits on Amazon.
“Because they’re French Bulldogs, they’re built very oddly and are barrel-chested, so it was hard to find things that fit,” she says.
Regardless, with their fresh attire, Andre and Moo strutted down the aisle escorted by Sarah’s teenage niece and nephew.
“It definitely added a little more joy to our procession,” she says.
Lauren Babbie and Corey Cavlovich married at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and celebrated their reception at The Westin Pittsburgh on Sept. 18, 2021, so their pup Paisley was not able to be physically present at their wedding festivities. But their dog of honor was present in numerous other ways.
After the ceremony, the couple’s party bus took a trip to Lauren’s parents’ home so the bride and groom could take photos with Paisley.
“It was never a question as to whether she would be included in our wedding since the day would’ve had a gap without her,” Lauren said.
Lauren describes the 5-year-old Brittany as “the most lovable, friendly, and energetic girl whose great manners have a tendency to fall by the way side when vanilla ice cream is within her reach.”
“She is very friendly, always visits everyone to get attention, and spreads her love around, so after getting her pictures she ran right onto the party bus to visit with all of our bridal party,” Lauren said.
At the couple’s reception, Paisley was present in the form of a special section of the cookie table: a photo of Paisley with a basket of “Paisley’s Pawty Favors” for guests to grab a treat to take home and share with their own pets.
For their outdoor ceremony and reception at the Stables at Hartwood on Aug. 22, 2021, Michael Kiplagat and Kat Stank were able to invite their favorite four-legged family member: their lab Huck.
“He had to be in the wedding,” Kat says. “And that was the beautiful thing about that venue too, that he could be there as well. He brought the rings down the aisle. He practiced and he did great.”
Huck, who sported a bow tie for his appearance, was even the inspiration for the event’s signature cocktail, the Huckleberry, a raspberry Moscow mule.
