The Most Common Violation Found by COVID Investigators

Dozens of businesses in Allegheny County have been cited for a problem that is easy to fix.

So far in September, the Allegheny County Health Department has conducted 546 inspections of restaurants, bars and other businesses that serve food. The good news, 87-percent were completely compliant with the safety rules imposed to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Of the 71 establishments which were cited for violations, a vast majority of them were for employees either not wearing masks, or wearing them improperly by not having their nose covered.

Eight restaurants or bars were cited for having tables placed too close together and one was in violation of serving alcohol with no food.

One tavern was also cited for serving customers at the bar.

Overall, inspectors have visited 2,519 businesses since July 23.

The results of all of the inspections can be found here. Consumers who want to file a complaint with the health department can fill out this form.
