Taste Test: Should You Sip the Pumpkin Pie Pop from Sheetz?
We try out the limited-edition flavor in the Sheetz Pop line.
As pumpkin and pumpkin-adjacent flavors spread across all manner of products, from the traditional lattes to dog chew toys (seriously), Sheetz has found a way to put a spin on the autumn favorite.
For a limited time only, the western Pennsylvania chain will add a Pumpkin Pie flavor to its in-house soda line, Sheetz Pop. The amber-colored soft drink is available at all 633 Sheetz locations, retailing for $1.29 per 24-ounce bottle.
The soda separates itself from the pumpkin pack by actually relying on … well, the taste of pumpkin. Pumpkin spice, actually a combination of common fall spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, typically contains no pumpkin; the Pumpkin Pie beverage from Sheetz does actually contain 1% pumpkin juice, making for a taste more reminiscent of an actual slice of pumpkin pie.
In our taste test, the drink mostly tasted like cream soda — with a distinct hint of pumpkin, particularly in the aroma. The good news: While many atypical soda brands overload the senses with sweetness, Sheetz’s concoction is drinkable and not too saccharine.
Pumpkin Pie is a temporary addition to the Sheetz Pop line, which debuted in 2020. Look for it in the soda cooler while supplies last.
