Every time I receive a Heinz press release, I have to stop and make sure it’s not a satirical article from The Onion.

This tomato story is true.

For the first time in the Pittsburgh-born company’s 150-year history, it’s kegging its ketchup. The Heinz KegChup holds 114 ounces of the condiment, stands 19.5 inches tall and has an easy-to-use spigot. The limited-edition receptacle will be released at the start of the 2026 NFL season.

Heinz teased the KegChup concept on social media last fall and tailgaters across the globe went ga-ga for it. If you’re attending a non-alcoholic keg party in Pittsburgh, this would definitely be the one to bring. It almost makes up for the rebranding of Heinz Field.

Can’t wait for the next Steelers kick-off? Visit the Heinz Instagram page through Jan. 29 to try and win one before the Feb. 8th — that’s Super Bowl Sunday, the second-largest food holiday of the year behind Thanksgiving. You can also pre-order a keg online.

Over the years, we’ve covered a lot of the company’s wacky antics, from Heinz-themed wedding attire and haute couture to ketchup smoothies, an app that helps you locate the Red Zone in the wild and a squeezable gravy bottle inspired by the sitcom “Friends”.
