Much to the delight of some and the displeasure of others, Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us. However extravagantly (or not) you and your sweetheart want to celebrate, there is something for you in Pittsburgh. Here are a few of our favorite picks for dinner, what to do afterward and, which gifts to pick up before the big day.
For Dinner
Lidia’s Pittsburgh
Lidia’s Pittsburgh is one of a long list of restaurants offering a Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu. The $55 per person price tag gets you a four-course Italian dinner at the hands of executive chef Daniel Walker. There is also a $45 wine pairing option. The prix fixe menu is available only on Feb. 14.
Spoon
The regular menu at Spoon will disappear on Feb. 14 in favor of a $70 per person prix fixe menu.
Terrace Room at the Omni William Penn Hotel
The Terrace Room will give diners a few extra days to fit in a romantic dinner — their Valentine’s Day special menu runs from Feb. 14-17. The restaurant's stunning lobby and dining room (located inside the Omni William Penn Hotel) set the mood for romance. The $59-per-person menu will change each day to include the "chef’s most romantic dishes.”
Whitfield (at the Ace Hotel)
Whitfield’s $80 per person Valentine’s Day menu is four courses including oysters, lobster tail and chocolate raspberry truffles.
To Give
For Him
For the guy who loves Pittsburgh but hates drink rings on tables, head to Lawrenceville shop Wild Card and pick up these Pittsburgh neighborhoods wooden coasters for $36.

To keep Pennsylvania close to her heart, try this necklace from local boutique Pavement. It is $46 and is available in silver or gold.
