When Will Shadyside’s Popular House Tour Return?
Organizers say folks will be able to catch a glimpse of both historic and modern interiors this fall.

Pittsburghers in one local neighborhood will soon have the chance to get nebby — again.
Organizers say the annual Shadyside House Tour will return on Oct. 3, allowing the public to step inside a curated collection of Shadyside homes. The properties on view will range from grand, historic residences to newer, updated spaces that “reflect the neighborhood’s enduring style and evolving character.”
“This tour is more than a peek behind beautiful doors,” says Dani Gundlach, chair of this year’s tour. “It’s a neighborhood celebration — one that strengthens community pride, supports local vitality and highlights what makes Shadyside such a special place to live, shop and invest.”
Shadyside’s architecture has long told Pittsburgh’s story. In past tours, guests have stepped into late-1800s homes originally built for prominent industrial-era leaders, explored libraries with intricate woodwork and marble fireplaces, discovered music rooms tucked behind pocket doors and seen modern flourishes — solar installations and refreshed kitchens — integrated into historic footprints.
The 2026 tour brings that same “only-in-Shadyside” mix: craftsmanship, creativity and the lived-in warmth that makes these homes feel both remarkable and real.
“The strength of Shadyside comes from the synergy between its beautiful residential streets and its vibrant business district,” says John Henne, of Henne Jewelers, which is presenting the event alongside Piatt Sotheby’s International Reality, the Shadyside Community Partnership and the Shadyside Chamber of Commerce. “When neighbors, local businesses and community organizations work together, it elevates the entire neighborhood. We’re proud to support an event that celebrates that connection.”
Proceeds from the tour will support a range of neighborhood enhancement and placemaking initiatives that enhance Shadyside. These efforts include seasonal streetscape improvements, ongoing landscape care and other projects that improve the public realm and strengthen Shadyside’s livability, organizers say.
