One bright spot in the first Covid-19 holiday season of 2020, when many traditional events were canceled, was the North Park Holiday Drive-In Laser Show. The vast parking lot of the North Park Swimming Pool was converted into a drive-in theater for the synchronized light show. Attendees never had to leave the warmth of their car, enjoying the show’s music on their radios.

Many of the shows were sold out, and its popularity brought the show back in 2021 and now this year.

“There are so many holiday traditions in our community that families embrace each year, and we’re thrilled to see so many residents embrace the drive-in laser show,” said Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald in a statement. “We’ve already heard from families who already have a visit to the laser show on their calendar for the 2022 Holiday Season.”

Tickets are on sale now.

The drive-in laser show begins on Friday, Dec. 9 and runs through Thursday, Dec. 22.

There are three shows per night, Sunday through Thursday (6, 7:30 and 9 p.m.) and four weekend shows on Friday and Saturday.  (6, 7:30, 9 and 10 p.m.)

Tickets are $20 per vehicle Sunday through Thursday and $25 per vehicle for Friday and Saturday shows. Guests are encouraged to arrive 30-45 minutes before their time slot, and upon arrival, they’ll need to show the QR code provided at the time of purchase.

Cars and trucks are permitted, but no commercial vehicles — school buses, mini buses or limos, for example — are prohibited. There won’t be concessions on-site, but guests are encouraged to bring something to munch on in their cars.

During the first two years, the holiday shows have raised more than $133,000 for the Kane Foundation, which works to enhance the quality of life for residents at the Kane Community Living Centers.
