Marietta Cellars Angeli Cuvee

The wine opens with aromas of blackberry, black cherry and spice, and its flavors of blackberry and dark chocolate are decadent.

Marietta Cellars is famous for its bold red wines, including zinfandel and cabernet sauvignon. The company offers consumers value for quality wines, and the real gem is the Angeli Cuvee [$25.99; PLCB code: 46965], a zinfandel-based blend that’s always outstanding but sometimes brilliant.

This wine, which I scored at 95, is a combination of zinfandel, petite sirah and carignane. It opens with aromas of blackberry, black cherry and spice, and its flavors of blackberry and dark chocolate are decadent. The Marietta Angeli Cuvee may be high in alcohol content at 15.4 percent, but that does not detract from the fruit flavors, making the wine a prime complement to a rack of lamb.
