Get to Know a Food Truck: Wood-Fired Flatbreads
This open-air food truck makes pizzas in a 5,000-pound custom brick oven.

WOOD-FIRED FLATBREADS BRINGS THE PARTY TO YOU
Kim Fitzpatrick and her husband, Kerien, have operated Wood-Fired Flatbreads since 2012 and call their business "an open-air food truck." The couple came up with the concept in 2012 while on vacation as they were eating pizza — Kerien's favorite. He researched options and designed their ideal oven before contracting a West Coast company to custom-make the 5,000-pound brick appliance. The couple bakes 10-inch pies in as little as 90 seconds. Popular offerings include margherita, Thai chicken and four-cheese. Wood-Fired Flatbreads offers more than pizza: For special events, the staff puts together appetizer spreads, salads and even desserts (including s'mores pizza). Find the Wood-Fired Flatbreads oven May 12 at Northland Library; the full schedule is posted online at woodfiredflatbreads.com.
WIGLE WHISKEY PREPARES TO OPEN BARRELHOUSE
Big things are happening at Wigle: This year, the company began shipping its organic spirits across the country and stocking its aged rye at area liquor stores. The Meyer and Grelli families also have been working on a barrelhouse, which will contain aging barrels as well as what they believe to be the first U.S. whiskey garden. The debut is set for May 30; programming includes a barrel roll, lawn games, live music, barbecue fare and cocktails featuring Wigle liquor.

BRUNTON USES REAL COCOA IN MILK
Brunton Dairy, which has been a Beaver County fixture since the 1800s, crafts a chocolate milk that makes us nostalgic for a childhood favorite. The hormone-free drink is sweet but not heavy, as it contains cocoa instead of chocolate syrup. The Brunton family still delivers glass bottles to regional residences and businesses. Its rave-worthy milk also is sold at a number of local markets and delis.
