Gearing up for #GiveBigPittsburgh
Are you ready for the most wonderful time of the year?
The holiday season is officially upon us. Following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday is #GivingTuesday. Coinciding with the National Day of Giving, which falls on Dec. 3 this year, we open our wallets to those organizations making a difference in our communities.
For the third year in a row, Pittsburgh Magazine, working with local organizations, will launch the annual #GiveBigPittsburgh campaign, which allows donors to give to registered nonprofits through the end of the calendar year.
The day of giving allows nonprofit organizations to be connected with untapped donors in the region, gain exposure and magnify fundraising efforts to end the year strong. We provide the platform for donations — GiveBigPittsburgh.com — all you have to do is reach out.
If you are a nonprofit organization stationed or providing services in the western Pennsylvania area, you are eligible to participate. Official registration has now closed, but stragglers are still able to register by clicking the blue chat bubble in the bottom right corner of the Give Big website and asking for help.
Last year, our second year hosting Give Big Pittsburgh, Pittsburghers raised $1.6 million for local charities in a single day. For the past two years now, two nonprofit organizations have received the most donations — Light of Life Rescue Mission and Humane Animal Rescue. This year, more than 380 nonprofits are registered and ready to receive your donations. Browse all participating organizations here.
The Give Big Pittsburgh donation portal will remain open through the end of the year — so if you don’t get around to donating today, you can still make a difference all month long. Pittsburgh Magazine will be giving away prizes throughout the day to nonprofits who hit various benchmarks. For example, the organization that receives the donation that puts the total raised over the $1 million mark for the day will receive an extra $1,000 provided by J.P. Morgan Bank.
The nonprofit that executes the best marketing campaign around Give Big Pittsburgh donations will receive a $10,000 ad campaign from Pittsburgh Magazine. We will announce that winner online on Dec. 20.
