On Friday, Aug. 18, Pittsburgh’s rivers were on full display at Riverlife’s annual fundraiser, Party at the Pier: Hidden Gems Presented by Peoples.

This year marked a first, as the event found a new location in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh. The Rooftop Terrace of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center provided a breathtaking backdrop, showcasing the Allegheny River and the iconic Sister Bridges against a canvas of perfect late-summer weather and a breathtaking sunset.

With a sold-out crowd of 900 guests from across the region, the night was filled with creative cocktails, live music, an energetic dance floor, and a chance to view our city’s rivers through a new lens. Attendees arrived in gemstone-inspired attire, adding their personal touch at the glam station. The evening was a true celebration of individual style, with a dazzling array of vibrant jewel tones, gemstone embellishments, sequins and unexpected pops of color that kept the party alive into the evening.

Under the expert chairmanship of Michael and Megan Quatrini, the 14th year of this highly anticipated party was designed to connect us to our incredible city in a dazzling and unforgettable way. Riverlife shattered records by raising nearly $400,000 at the event.

These funds support Riverlife’s mission to create, activate, and celebrate Pittsburgh’s riverfronts. Overseeing a $150 million investment, Riverlife has transformed decaying and abandoned spaces along the riverfront into 15 miles of award-winning parks, trails, and green spaces, spanning 1,055 acres.

This year’s backdrop was symbolic, as Riverlife unveiled the upcoming Sister Bridge Experience project. This endeavor will revolutionize the way Pittsburghers connect with the rivers and with each other. By reimagining spaces like Allegheny Landing on the North Shore and Allegheny Riverfront Park along Fort Duquesne Boulevard, Riverlife pays homage to history while introducing elements tailored to the 21st-century city.

Party at the Pier: Hidden Gems received invaluable support from sponsors including Peoples, David L. Lawrence Convention Center, PNC Bank, and First National Bank.
