Check Out These 6 Holiday Markets for Locally Made Gifts

From the I Made It! Market to Handmade Arcade, here's where to go to find one-of-a-kind products.

The holiday season officially is here, but if you haven’t ventured out to start your gift shopping yet, fear not. The are plenty of events taking place around Pittsburgh featuring locally made products for sale, and even some where you can make your own. Here’s a look at where to go to get your gift-giving on.

When: Now through Jan. 4
Where: 31st Street Studios in the Strip District.
More info: The I Made It! Market is hosting a vendor market at Lumaze’s holiday light festival. While some vendors will vary by day, many are set to be there for the entirety of the market. Local vendors with booths for the season include Pittsburgh Pottery, Atelier Glass Studio and Threadbare Cider and Mead. 

Holiday Wreath Making Workshop
When: 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Nov. 30
Where: The Gym at the Ace Hotel in East Liberty
More info:Workshop PGH is hosting the kickoff event, now in its second year. Kelly Malone, owner of Workshop PGH is partnering with Natasha Dean from Shadyside Nursery for the wreath-making workshop. Tickets are $70, which includes two cocktails, a holiday candle and, of course, a wreath. 


Handmade Arcade
When: 5:30 to 8 p.m., Dec. 6 and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Dec. 7
Where: David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown.
More info: Celebrating its 15 anniversary, Handmade Arcade will have 250 regional and national vendors. For those who want to get a head start, Handmade Arcade is also hosting a Friday Night Preview Party from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Dec. 6, as well as an Early Birdie Shopping Hour from 10 to 11 a.m., Dec. 7. Tickets are required for both early shopping opportunities. 

Queer Makers Holiday Market
When: 5 to 10 p.m, Dec. 9
Where: The Gym at the Ace Hotel in East Liberty.
More info: For the Queer Makers Holiday Market, Workshop PGH partnered with Assemble, a community space for arts and technology. The event features local makers, creatives and artists from the queer maker community. The show is free and open to the public. 


I Made It! Market
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 30 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Dec. 14
Where: The Crowne Plaza Hotel on Nov. 30 and The Block Northway in Ross Township on Dec. 14.
More info: With dozens of vendors, ranging from artists to food to coffee, I Made It! Market features a plethora of holiday gift options under one roof. The local vendors scheduled for the The Block Northway market include Una Biologicals, MetaMorph Jewelry and Wolf’s Den Pottery. 

Made + Found Holiday Market
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 15
Where: Multiple locations with Ace Hotel in East Liberty
More info: Created and curated by Anemoia Vintage, the Made + Found Holiday Market will feature more than 40 artists, makers and vintage shops from Pittsburgh as well as from cities around the rustbelt, including Detroit and Cleveland. Brunch, coffee and cocktails will also be available for purchase at the market. The event itself is free and open to the public.
