Burghers Brewing is getting into the pizza game.

Owners Fiore Moletz and Neil Glauiser, who operate Burghers locations in Zelienople, Lawrenceville and Millvale, are relocating their tiny South Side taproom and burger joint to the former Sly Fox Brewing Company space at The Highline. (Sly Fox, a Philadelphia-based beer-maker, opened inside the 5,800-square-foot redeveloped cargo warehouse in 2022. Its Downtown pub on Liberty Avenue remains open.)

Moletz and Glauiser are teaming up with a celebrated pizza purveyor on the project; A Slice of New York Squared will move into the 700-square-foot site at 319 E. Carson St. that Burghers debuted in December 2023.

Grand opening dates and preview events will be announced soon.

Founded by Bronx native Sean Jefairjian, Murrysville’s A Slice of New York has earned regional and national recognition for its commitment to authentic Empire State-style pies. The brand received an 8.2 rating from Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, placing it among the highest-rated pizzerias reviewed in the country. At A Slice of New York Squared, Jefairjian will focus on premium square pies built from slow-fermented sourdough.

Inside the new Highline location, Burghers will debut Burghers Pizza, where they’ll reinterpret the brand’s most celebrated burgers into pies designed to pair with their beer.

“We’ve spent years perfecting flavor balance inside a bun,” says Moletz, who also runs Della Terra, an Italian restaurant in Zelienople. “Now we’re rebuilding that experience on fermented dough. It’s playful, but it’s serious.”
