Three local high school students have banded together to help support those impacted by the pandemic, and add a little art to everyone’s lives as well.

Kathy Li, a rising senior from Upper St. Clair, says her work with food banks and her passion for art inspired her and her friends to start Art for Joy.

“I knew that [food banks] help a lot of people who might have been affected by either loss of jobs or loss of food security,” Li says.

Art for Joy is a digital commission-based fundraiser. For a donation of $10 and up, you get a piece of digital artwork. The cost of the commission varies based on the complexity of the drawing. All money is donated to the Greater Washington County Food Bank and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Li’s partners in Art for Joy are Upper St. Clair students Eileen Guo and Manjiri Palayekar.

Currently, Art for Joy is just $50 short of its goal of $500. If you’re interested in placing an order request, you can fill out the form here.
