Allegheny County to Open Three More Vaccine Distribution Sites
Residents can get COVID-19 vaccines in Oakland, the Hill District and Ross Township.
The Allegheny County Health Department announced Tuesday it will be opening three more sites by the end of the month to administer the COVID-19 vaccine. All sites will be by appointment only. The county schedules appointments through Allegheny Alerts and on its COVID Vaccine Page. Residents without internet access can call 2-1-1 for help scheduling an appointment.
The health department is partnering with the University of Pittsburgh to administer vaccines at the Petersen Events Center beginning tomorrow, March 17, through the end of next week. Second dose appointments will be provided at the same location. Free parking will be available at the garage at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum off of Bigelow Boulevard with free shuttles running between the garage and the Peterson Event Center. A parking lot near the center will also be available with limited spots for those who drop off others for vaccination and wish to wait in their vehicle.
Vaccines will also be administered beginning Monday, March 22, at the Central Baptist Church, located at 220 Wylie Ave. in the Hill District. The site is made possible through a partnership with the Center for Integrative Health at Duquesne University and will target specific communities and populations who have not yet been reached through traditional means.
Beginning Wednesday, March 24, vaccines will be available at the Ross Township Community Center, located at 1000 Municipal Drive. The clinic will be staffed by health department staff and members of the Medical Reserve Corps. As the Ross site ramps up, the Monroeville site will be used only as a second-dose clinic for those who received their first doses there before that location is phased out, the county says.
The health department continues to receive both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. When scheduling an appointment, it will be noted which vaccine will be used at that clinic.
