For Jennifer Bourne, technology has always been as much about people as systems. At PPG Industries, Bourne leads the Science & Technology IT department, where she focuses on AI and digital transformation work meant to help scientists spend less time searching for information and more time solving complex problems.
Bourne’s projects include a platform that will help PPG researchers across more than 70 global labs access information faster, share data more easily and make decisions more efficiently.
Just as important to Bourne, though, is the talent she has helped grow along the way. For six years, she helped lead PPG’s IT internship program, mentoring students as they explored career paths and learned what they could achieve.
Bourne sees Pittsburgh as a place ready for its next reinvention, with AI and digital technology helping lead the way.
