The 165-year-old company, which has a 42-acre campus in Creighton, now boasts a 1,000-square-foot space in the Alcoa Building at 611 William Penn Place;here’s also a small patio. Official hours are 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m Sunday (but, if the neon beer signs in the window are on, the bar is open).

The taproom will operate for at least six months through the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership’s Project Pop-Up, an initiative to fill vacant retail spaces before the NFL Draft taking place April 23-25.  On April 22, fellow project participant Black Brewhouse, a collaboration between TLC Libations and Windy Bridges Brew, will open on Forbes Avenue near Market Square.

Founded in 1861, Pittsburgh Brewing hasn’t had a presence in the city since vacating its original Lawrenceville facility in 2009. After more than a decade of contract-brewing their beers in Latrobe, the company opened a sprawling brewery and taproom in a former PPG plant about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh. The site also features Iron City Distilling, a gift shop and a live music venue.
