Experience “Stranger Things” in Pittsburgh
Fans of the Netflix series can enjoy themed food and beverages and an Upside Down pop-up bar.
Pittsburgh isn’t too far from the fictional town of Hawkins, Ind. Heck, a bunch of Iron City Beer cans make a cameo in a season-four episode of the hit Netflix show “Stranger Things.”
Now the portal is opening again.
On Nov. 26, the first half of the fifth and final season premiered (and crashed the streaming service), so local businesses are helping satisfy fans’ hunger for the series.
Among them are Over & Under, a “Stranger Things”–inspired pop-up bar at City Kitchen Food Hall’s patio in Bakery Square that lets folks 21 and over unwind in the light and dark side of the Byers family living room … and the Upside Down. It’s open through Feb. 28, 2026. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday. Sip a Demogorgarita, Eleven’s Eggo-Fashioned or Vecna’s Spritz while you nerd-out with your pals in Larimer.
Fans may also binge-watch the show while binge-eating grub from Pittsburgh Sandwich Society’s special menu, available in the Strange Roots Experimental Ales taproom in Millvale. Items include The HellFire Club, grilled chicken breast, bacon, pepperjack cheese, crushed Takis, spicy avo, tomato, spring mix and aioli on toast brioche. It pairs perfectly with some Surfer Boy Pizza Fries.
Elsewhere, Allusion Brewing Co. is offering The Upside Down, a 6.5-percent IPA made with Eleven pounds of Amarillo whole-cone hops and is available on draft and in cans at both the Vandergift and North Hills locations.
