The owner of Shoppe B in Lawrenceville — which carries luxury furnishings and decor — Brenda Friday is known for designing creative, hand-curated rooms that are truly one-of-a-kind. Her motto is every space needs to feel 90% calm and 10% chaos to keep it from becoming stagnant or flat. “And every space needs fabulous art,” she says.

Project: Fox Chapel Primary Suite

This project began with a painting. Friday says her clients fell in love with a Cubism-style piece by Cuban artist Lucia Lopez, and it became the centerpiece of the bedroom.

From the bespoke bed designed by Friday to the custom drapery and the Violetta Marble bath, the painting’s color palette deeply influenced the room’s decor. Part of a 1920s-era home, the suite belonging to Friday’s clients previously was like something out of a century-old time capsule.

“To give them the cozy yet luxurious hideaway of their dreams, myself and my partners at R.A. Cress Builder staged a complete gut renovation,” Friday says.
