Few faces in local media have the yinzer bona fides of Daisy Jade. She’s a Pittsburgh native and a University of Pittsburgh grad, and while she’s hosted television shows nationally (including for NASA), she has since 2016 been a regular presence on KDKA-TV, including “Pittsburgh Today Live” and “Talk Pittsburgh.”

Jade is also an actress who has appeared in a number of locally shot films and series, as well as in several documentary series on the Discovery Channel. An avid supporter of local theater as well as the city’s film industry, Jade can often be found at cultural events around town.

With a lifetime spent in the Steel City, we wanted to know: What is Daisy Jade’s Best of the ’Burgh?

What’s your Pittsburgh “hidden gem,” a place that you love that doesn’t get the attention it deserves?

The Frick Fine Arts Building at the University of Pittsburgh. “When there’s nobody around, it’s so peaceful. It’s a nice place to take a break — you can see the artwork and the greenery … it’s beautiful.”

If you could only eat one local meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Steak at Altius. “It’s more about the ambiance.”

If Pittsburgh had a theme song, what would it be?

“Renegade” by Styx

What’s the annual tradition that you wait for every year?

Lights! Glamour! Action!, the annual fundraising gala for the Pittsburgh Film Office

Favorite Pittsburgh appearance in a movie or on television?

“I’ve appeared in quite a few! I was a newscaster in ‘American Rust,’ I was in ‘Banshee’ … but of course, probably “Flashdance.’”

What’s your unpopular Pittsburgh opinion? What is something you think about the city (or a famous aspect of it) that won’t win you any friends?

“Primantis is overrated. But it’s because I’m not a fan of cole slaw — it’s not the regular sandwiches or the meat, it’s just the cole slaw. French fries? Great. No cole slaw.”

Where’s the first place you take out-of-town guests?

Mount Washington

You get one Incline ride with any Pittsburgher, living or dead. Who is it?

Gene Kelly. “He went to my high school, Peabody … I’ve always admired him.”

If you could bring back one Pittsburgh place or restaurant that’s no longer there, which would you pick?

Log Jammer, Kennywood
