‘The Pitt’ Lands 25 Emmy Nominations

Last year, the popular TV series The Pitt amassed an impressive 13 Emmy nominations for its debut season. The question was, could the sophomore season, which was released in January of this year, live up to the hype and critical acclaim of its first?

It turns out that the answer is yes. For the 2026 Emmy Awards, the Pittsburgh-based medical drama has received a whopping 25 nominations, leading the pack in the drama category and overall. 

The HBO Max series has been nominated in major categories, including outstanding drama series, outstanding lead actor for Noah Wyle’s role as Dr. Robby and outstanding supporting actress for Katherine LaNasa’s role as charge nurse Dana Evans.

The show also received nominations for picture editing, sound mixing, prosthetic makeup, writing, directing and casting. Come September, The Pitt will be competing against other popular drama shows such as Paradise, Slow Horses and Task. The 78th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on Monday, Sept. 14. 

“The Pitt” follows the struggles and successes of medical staff at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Center. North Side’s Allegheny General Hospital portrays the fictional trauma center in external shots, and Pittsburghers have had fun spotting modified signage and other Easter eggs on the North Side and in the show. It will return to HBO Max for a third season next January.
