Take an Uber to Pittsburgh’s Allentown, and You’ll Get a Discount
The Hilltop neighborhood's business community is offering the $10 discount in October to encourage more people to visit.
Allentown is offering discounts on Uber rides to anyone who wants to come to this Hilltop neighborhood in Pittsburgh.
Several Allentown businesses have gotten together to offer a first-of-its-kind Uber credit program, giving anyone $10 off any ride to and from Allentown businesses for October.
“We feel like people don’t have access to explore Allentown and we wanted to make it easier for people to come out here, especially for a younger crowd that doesn’t have a car or access to transportation,” says Hannah Confer, general manager of the Bottlerocket Social Club, a popular bar and performance space in the neighborhood.

This program was created to promote various attractions and late-night programming. Bottlerocket met with other businesses in Allentown at the end of August and they liked the idea of giving people an easier way to visit Allentown, so they decided to create a program that will make it easier for people to tour their attractions.
Allentown businesses have used popular social media platforms like Instagram to promote the program.
“We think Allentown is cool and we want other people to experience what we have going on here,” Confer says.
Many of the businesses on Warrington Avenue have a gothic theme, such as the spooky boutique The Weeping Grass. The area is also emerging as a cultural hub thanks to the varied programming at Bottlerocket Social Club. Bottlerocket is a throwback bar that hosts nightly events including comedy, music, trivia, and plenty of unclassifiable gatherings.
This month will be a trial run, Confer says, and the Allentown businesses hope to extend this program if it performs well.
To use the discount, your starting or endpoint has to be in Allentown to redeem the $10 discount using the QR code.
