Big News About the Pittsburgh-Born Big Mac
McDonald’s is releasing a chicken version of its iconic sandwich.
In Pittsburgh, burgers are kind of a big deal. McDonald’s famous Big Mac was invented by Jim Delligati, a Uniontown franchisee who came up with the sandwich in 1967. There’s even a museum dedicated to this fast-food meal and its maker!

Now the company is flipping the bird in place of two all-beef patties. For a limited time starting Oct. 10, the Chicken Big Mac will be available at participating restaurants across the tri-state area.
It features all the Big Mac toppings fans know and love, but replaces the beef with two tempura-battered chicken patties. Just like the OG, the Chicken Big Mac is topped with special sauce, lettuce, cheese and pickles on a sesame-seed bun.

The sandwich has previously been tested in international markets including the U.K. and in Miami in 2022. I plan to test it under the West View Golden Arches this Thursday. Will the Big Cluck be able to achieve the original’s legendary status? McDonald’s sells approximately 550 million Big Macs each year in America alone.
