30 Horror Movies to Watch at Pittsburgh Movie Theaters This October
From classics to new chillers, here are more scary movies than you can possibly fit into your spooky season plans.
As they say in the 1978 classic “Halloween,” “everyone’s entitled to one good scare.”
Whether you’re a year-round horror aficionado or just prefer your scares during spooky season, October is the time for big-screen terror. And Pittsburgh cinemas are offering dozens of opportunities to scare yourself silly this month, with revivals of timeless classics playing alongside plenty of new flicks.

There are plenty of horror-adjacent screenings and special events coming up, too. Pittsburgh’s “Rocky Horror Picture Show” shadowcasters, the Junior Chamber of Commerce Players, have events all month long. Row House Cinema Lawrenceville will host an all-day marathon of Universal Monsters favorites on Oct. 27. The Lindsay Theater will once again host the Thriller Picture Show, a collection of new and restored horror features and shorts, from Oct. 11-14.
Prefer spooky fun to genuine fright? Plenty of theaters are also showing Halloween favorites that aren’t exactly scary, such as “Hocus Pocus,” “A Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Addams Family Values” and “Coco.”
