Enjoy a Coastal Getaway at the Aviary in January
The winter months are a perfect time to get up close and personal with your favorite birds.
The National Aviary brings warm, tropical weather to you during Coastal Getaway!
Starting January 3, see island birds Scarlet Ibises and African Penguins (yes-they’re coastal birds!) welcoming you into immersive habitats. New daily activities, included with admission (and members visit for free!), will make your experience unforgettable.
Go Coastal
The National Aviary’s Wetlands and Penguin Point habitats are ideal places to indulge your inner island lover…and both offer exciting daily feedings for visitors! See fan favorites like American Flamingos and Brown Pelicans wade by for mealtime in the Wetlands, and watch the ever-growing colony of African Penguins gather together for their sustainable fish! Want to get even closer to penguins? You can with a Penguin Encounter (or Jr. Penguin Encounter for the littles!).
Birds of the Islands
A new daily, interactive talk allows you to learn more about a few exciting tropical species, like Mariana Fruit Doves, Crested Wood Partridges, and…Malayan Flying Foxes (an adorable fruit-eating mega-bat!).
