2023 40 Under 40 Honoree: Landis Erwin (33)
“I simply want to leave as much positivity as I can — to support the families that need it most, without judgment.”
Landis Erwin
Executive Director, Apartment Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh; former Director of Development, Crossroads Foundation
While working at the Crossroads Foundation for four years — an organization dedicated to providing quality education for students in Allegheny County — Landis Erwin secured funding for students with the goal of having 100 percent graduate from high school and continue on to college or a trade school.
She also led the foundation’s efforts during the pandemic to create an emergency fund to support families dealing with circumstances outside their control. But it’s her willingness to give that exemplifies her care for others. She donated a portion of her liver in March 2020 to help save a 4-year-old girl who had a rare genetic disorder.
“Landis is one of the most giving, considerate and driven people you will meet,” says Tyler Andrews, who nominated her for the 40 Under 40 honor.
Now, in her new position as the executive director of the Apartment Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh, Erwin is advocating for safe, accessible multifamily housing and connecting community members to housing opportunities that can help them thrive.
