Now that Pittsburgh Magazine’s Whiskey & Fine Spirits Festival is less than two weeks away, we thought the time was right to share some of the delicious cocktails available to taste at the festival. Sample these classics on Oct. 23, then grab the key ingredients — the premium spirits and craft mixers — from the on-site Fine Wine & Good Spirits store before you leave.
You’ll find products from Natrona Bottling, the exclusive mixer sponsor of #PghWhiskeyFest, in all of the recipes below. These are just a few of the handcrafted cocktails available at the festival; be sure to keep your eyes open for plenty of others throughout the evening. For the designated drivers and soda pop fans among us, Natrona will have six packs of their Red Ribbon Soda and Jamaica’s Finest Ginger Beer for sale.
Built in a tall vertical Collins-Style glass
1 1/2 oz of VSOP Cognac (or your favorite local whisky)
4 oz Jamaicas Finest Peach Ginger Beer
2 Dash of Angostura Bitters
Lemon Twist (cut long like a tail)
Peach slice if in season
Gin & Tonic
Fill a glass tumbler with cubed ice.
Add a generous measure of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin.
Top with chilled Red Ribbon tonic water.
Garnish with a thick wedge of fresh, Ruby Red Grapefruit to emphasize the refreshing citrus notes.
