2021 40 Under 40 Honoree: Danielle Filip
“I think it’s wonderful that I’m able to accommodate a larger group of the population. My work now is focused on ensuring that there are standards in place.”
Danielle Filip (36)
Vice President of Operations, Sign Language Interpreting Professionals
You may not know Danielle Filip’s name, but you’ve seen her face — and hands.
During the Allegheny County Health Department’s COVID-19 briefings, Filip served as an American Sign Language interpreter; she also worked on services specific to senior citizens who are Deaf, arranging vaccine appointments for more than 100 individuals and developing a senior yoga and mindfulness program, to help cope with the loss of friends and family members as a result of COVID-19.
“I think we all experienced isolation, hearing or Deaf. But for the Deaf community, especially for senior citizens … they went from weekly gatherings where they could communicate in their first language to isolation.”
Filip also founded CART Solutions, LLC, as part of her work with Sign Language Interpreting Professionals, to provide live captioning for meetings, lectures and many more occasions that might not be immediately visible to the population at large.
