2020 40 Under 40 Honoree: Megan Krider

“Affordable housing is needed everywhere."

KriderMegan Krider (35)
Manager, Affordable Housing & Community Development
FHLBank Pittsburgh

Megan Krider started her career in child welfare. It may seem a world away from her current role as the manager of affordable housing and community development at FHLBank, but Krider sees one as vital to the other.

“Housing is truly foundational and instrumental in so many outcomes,” Krider says. “How are you supposed to do everything else without a place to call home?”

Krider sees affordable housing as a dynamic field where creative solutions are always evolving to meet new challenges, but it’s also a field where the need is constant, particularly as the cost of living continues to outpace salaries.

“The need is so expansive,” Krider says. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a big city or a rural community. The challenges may be different, but affordable housing is needed everywhere.”

In addition to her work at FHLBank, Krider also sits on the boards for Adagio Health and Operation Valor Arts, an organization that gives veterans the resources to construct public art as a way of processing and honoring their service.
