2020 40 Under 40 Honoree: Luz E Blandon
“It’s so amazing when a community welcomes you and you’re able to contribute."
As the lead case manager in the Holy Family Institute’s Journey of Hope program, it’s Luz Blandon’s job to ensure that minors who arrive in the United States from other countries get the support they need to thrive in and connect with their new communities.
It’s a mission that Blandon, who was born in Colombia, sees as vital to developing a diverse and inclusive city.
“When you have a mix of cultures, it really enriches the community, provides another perspective on life and increases the opportunity for people to learn,” Blandon says. “I’m an immigrant, so I know it’s so amazing when a community welcomes you and you’re able to contribute.”
She feels fortunate that Holy Family Institute truly embraces its stated mission of providing help, healing and hope to area children and families, and does so with a multicultural approach.
“It really feels like a family,” Blandon says. “They value the work that we do and we make sure everybody gets the high level of quality care that they need.”
