2012 Cuvaison Estate Grown Chardonnay – Carneros, Napa Valley

The wine displays aromas of Meyer lemon and lemon curd with a touch of green apple.

Founded in 1969 in Napa Valley, Cuvaison Winery soon gained a reputation for producing tannic cabernet sauvignon and zinfandel wines from hillside grapes. With the purchase of land in the Carneros region, the winery began to produce outstanding chardonnay wines in the 1980s; today, that variety makes up the majority of Cuvaison’s production. The new chardonnay release [$24.99; PLCB code: 8150] is exceptional and offers good value for its overall quality. I have scored it at 93 points. The wine displays aromas of Meyer lemon and lemon curd with a touch of green apple. The rich citrus flavors are enhanced with a nice balance of acidity in the finish.
