2008 Angelo Gaja Promis Ca’ Marcanda
For the last 40 years, Gaja has set the benchmark for Italian Barolos and Barbarescos with his unorthodox style.
There are many things to celebrate in April: fools, taxes, the Earth, Easter and my anniversary. On April 6, not only will I have been married 26 years, I will have been married longer than I have been single. What’s a guy to do? Buy a nice bottle of wine—that’s what.
So, I’ve selected the 2008 Promis Ca’ Marcanda from Angelo Gaja’s line. For the last 40 years, Gaja has set the benchmark for Italian Barolos and Barbarescos with his unorthodox style.
But his stuff doesn’t come cheap. That’s where the Promis comes in: At $42.99, it costs twice the amount I usually spend, but it’s still a bargain.
You can’t help but notice the red fruits, light spice and full body. This wine is supple and elegant—much like my blushing bride. If you want to step it up a bit, give this one a try. (Available at PLCB Premium stores.)
