Growing up, Maggie Gibson Peck and her brother, Joe, would ask to help around Gibson Stainless, the Greensburg-based business founded by their father, Joseph Gibson, in 1995.

However, their father’s rule was that the siblings couldn’t join the family business, which manufactures stainless steel electrical conduit systems, until they first held roles at other companies. In 2011, after working in marketing for Keller & Heckman in Washington D.C., Peck was officially hired at Gibson Stainless.

“I started in the assembly room before moving into sales and marketing roles,” Peck says. “As the company continued to grow, I became involved in other areas of Gibson, and in 2021 moved into the role of executive vice president. With Dad’s retirement in 2023, I now serve as president.”

While the company started with three products in a 2,000-square-foot building, it now operates out of a 30,000-square-foot building and offers thousands of items. In 2021, Joe, who previously worked at ADP, joined the family business and now runs the production floor.

“Even though the size of our operation has changed, our values of providing high-quality products, unparalleled customer service and fast, on-time shipping have not,” Peck says. “Our reputation has been built with a strong group of employees, customers and vendors who share our values.”

A Washington & Jefferson College Athletic Hall of Fame member for women’s basketball, Peck takes leading a team seriously, with a strong belief in doing the same tasks she asks of her employees.

“We run an efficient and lean operation, so there are times when helping to fulfill other duties is what is best for the team,” she says.

Peck notes that when the company was founded, many Gibson customers were in the petrochemical and marine industries; today, she sees growth in other areas such as food and beverage and pharmaceutical.

“We have had to navigate these new demands and adapt to industry requests,” she says. “However, it has also been exciting to see the growth of opportunities for stainless steel as more and more applications are realizing its value.”

With her brother by her side, Peck says she is proud to continue the work started by their father.

“We want to build on and honor the reputation Dad established while also innovating and advancing as the industry changes,” she says.
