High on the list of deterrents for those who might enjoy a nice cigar: the fear that a trip to a lounge will result in the odor of tobacco following you around for hours, if not days.

That’s not a threat at BLEND Bar (blendbarcigar.com/pittsburgh), the lounge-style cigar bar that opened in October in the Koppers Building Downtown. An advanced filtration system fully replaces the air in the two-story room every six minutes, so you’re free to puff away and walk out without your cigar following you home.

In addition to a range of cigars — BLEND partners with Davidoff but offers a variety of other options — the bar specializes in bourbon and Scotch, with a rotating selection of whiskey designed to suit a variety of palates. Bartenders will also recommend a drink to pair with your cigar, or vice-versa, and a limited food menu is available.

Be sure to ask someone about the historic artifacts found throughout BLEND, including marble columns salvaged from the bygone Squirrel Hill mansion of Richard B. Mellon.
