There’s something nostalgic about laying a blanket on the grass, gathering under the stars with friends and loved ones, and watching a film with the warm breeze blowing through your hair.

The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and the City of Pittsburgh will host free movies in parks across the region, beginning in June.

Movie Nights in the Park is hosted by the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, and sponsored by Peoples Gas; the city will host Dollar Bank Cinema in the Park through the summer.

Movie Nights in the Park

The Movie Nights in the Park series will begin with a showing of “ELVIS” at dusk Sunday, June 11, and end with a showing of “Hocus Pocus” on Oct. 21 or 22 (depending on the weather) in Schenley Plaza, 4100 Forbes Ave., Oakland.

Other locations for this series include: Robert E. Williams Memorial Park, 3500 Milwaukee St., Upper Hill, and August Wilson Park, 1803 Cliff St., the Hill District.

“We are always looking for unique ways to engage with park lovers across the city,” said Shawn Fertitta, director of visitor experience for the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. “Our summer programs, including Movie Nights in the Park, allow park users to unwind and enjoy the open spaces for all they offer.”

The schedule is:
