Attendees to this year’s EQT’s Flashes of Freedom 4th of July celebration Downtown are in for a full day of free fun that goes out with a bang. Actually, more like 2,000 bangs.

“We have an amazing program planned,” says Vince Terrizzi Jr., general manager of Starfire Corporation, which is in charge of this year’s fireworks. “We have a tribute to the Pens… and we stepped up our finale a little bit as well.”

Activities begin at noon with events all afternoon on the main stage at Point State Park. There will also be a kid’s zone featuring crafts, face painting, caricature drawings and more. Make sure to have a good look at the sky at 6 p.m. for a flyover by the United States Air Force.

The fireworks begin at 9:35 p.m. and will be accompanied by music and special effects.  Speakers will be set up in Point State Park and on the North Shore, or you can listen to the music soundtrack on KDKA-AM 1020.

"”We’re all just very, very excited for this,” Terrizzi says.
