Watch: UPMC Doc Sings ‘Happy Birthday’ to Every Baby He Delivers
“The Singing Doctor” of Magee-Womens Hospital makes every birth feel special.
In case you missed it: The world was quite awful last week, humanity-wise. So let’s all take a moment to appreciate the miracle of human life with Dr. Carey Andrew-Jaja, an OB-GYN at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Magee-Womens Hospital. Dr. Andrew-Jaja has delivered more than 8,000 babies in his 32-year career, and he performs a ritual to make each one feel special and meaningful. He sings “Happy Birthday” to the newborn baby with his staff (and sometimes mom, too).
“When I am singing to those babies, I think, I’m singing to a future important person,” says Dr. Andrew-Jaja.
Humanity? Dignity? We hardly recognized ye. This video should be required viewing for each new Comcast customer service trainee.
